Sports

Scotland may not be that known in sports.

We know about or have at least heard about The Glasgow Rangers or Glasgow Celtics in football, but for most danes their knowledge more or less stops here.

But if you look at the picture to the right, a far different story is opened to us. Scotland is home and mother to the game of golf, and many golfers would gladly spend lots of money to play on some of Scotland's famous courses; St. Andrews The Old Course, Muirfield, Carnoustie, Turnberry etc.

Even the pros pay respect to the history of golf in Scotland. Even though the prize for winning the American Major (US Open) is much higher compared to the one paid to the winner at The British Open, every pro golfer still sees The Claret Jug (the trophy given for winning The British Open) as a far greater prize than any amount of money can match.

Apart from playing football and golf, Scotland has also made a name in cricket, darts, and rugby.

The true Scots do however also have lots of fun participating in The Highland Games which we heard about in the Culture episode earlier.

Our final remark must then be, visit Scotland - she has lots to offer; history, culture, lovely language, splendid literature, smashing food and great sports.

                    Hasty ye back!
